Oddity (2024) is a horror-thriller directed by Damian McCarthy. The film centers on Darcy, a blind medium and curio shopkeeper, who is grieving the murder of her twin sister, Dani. A year after Dani’s death, Darcy receives a visit from Dani’s widower, Ted, who brings a glass eye belonging to the man suspected of killing Dani. Darcy, who can “read” objects, hopes to uncover the truth about her sister’s murder through this eye.
The story unfolds in a remote stone house, where Ted and his new partner, Yana, encounter eerie occurrences linked to a life-size wooden mannequin brought by Darcy. The mannequin seems to move on its own, adding to the suspense and supernatural elements of the film. “Oddity” combines elements of murder mystery, supernatural horror, and home invasion thriller, creating a chilling atmosphere that keeps viewers on edge throughout the movie.
