Vampire Academy follows Rose Hathaway, a Dhampir (half-human, half-vampire) guardian-in-training, and her best friend Lissa Dragomir, a Moroi princess with special powers. Both attend St. Vladimir’s Academy, a hidden boarding school where Dhampirs train to protect Moroi from the dangerous Strigoi, immortal and ruthless vampires.

As Rose learns to fight and develops a bond with her mentor, Dimitri, she and Lissa uncover dark secrets at the academy that threaten their lives and the Moroi society.
