Drama - Summary:
Set in 1954, the story follows Māori teenage girl Nellie, who is sent to Christchurch after her hometown’s meatworks closes. She befriends Daisy, another Māori teenager, and they are sent to a reform school. The Matron attempts to reprogram them into subservient housewives. Nellie, Daisy, and Lou, a European teenager, form a bond and resist the Matron’s efforts, culminating in a dramatic escape attempt.
